Prince William County Public Golf Courses
Forest Greens Golf Club (Triangle) is a municipal golf course which opened in 1996 with a grass driving range, practice putting green, pro shop, food and beverage. This is an 18-hole par 72 regulation course with a 73.3 rating, and 140 slope rating. The course distance is 6,868 yards.
Prince William Golf Course (Nokesville) is an 18-hole regulation length course built in 1967 with 4 tee settings between 4,695 to 6,266 yards. This par 70 course has a 72.1 rating with a 125 slope rating. This is a very playable course with wide fairways. It is also relatively inexpensive. Amenities include a driving range, golf shop, snack bar, pull carts.
General’s Ridge (Manassas Park) is a challenging 18-hole championship course with 4 tee settings with course and slope ratings of 73.6/143 to 67.5/115. This is a par 72 course built in 1996 measuring 6,651 yards with narrow fairways. The fairways are narrow and we recommended stocking your bag before heading out to play a round. There is a Wednesday night (5 p. m.) men’s league and Thursday night ladies league (4:30 p. m.) as well as FootGolf play.
Lake Ridge Golf Course (Woodbridge) is a 9-hole par 3 course measuring 1,074 yards from the longest tees at Lake Ridge Park and Marina. The course opened in 1992 and was designed to improve golfer’s short game. There are 3 tee settings with holes between 50 to 172 yards. We found it was an excellent place to take our kids and teach them how to play. This municipal course offers golf camps, tournaments, lessons, Tuesday ladies league, Monday junior league. Amenities include food and beverages, driving cages, putting green, 18-hole miniature golf course. This is also a FootGolf course.
Bristow Manor Golf Club (Bristow) opened in 1993 and was listed in Golf Digest as ‘100 Top Places to Play’ from 1998 to 2001. This 18-hole championship course is a par 72 with 4 sets of tees between 6,770 to 7,102 yards with a course and slope rating of 71.9/125 to 75.2/133. The fairways are zoysia grass ans the greens and tees are bent grass. Amenities include a 50 station driving range.
Broad Run Golf & Practice Facility (Manassas) was opened in 1998. It has a 9-hole regulation course designed by Rick Jacobson with a course and slope rating of 68.6/124 to 60.8/100 from 4 tee settings. This is a par 35 course with rates for 9 and 18 holes walking or riding. The practice facility features a 75 station all weather lighted driving range with target greens, a 2 acre short game practice area, and a 10,000 square foot putting area. Group and private lessons are available along with junior programs and pee wee golf classes (ages 3-6). There is also a miniature golf course and FootGolf is available everyday beginning at 1 p. m.
Bull Run Golf Club (Haymarket) covers 450 acres next to Bull Run Mountain. This is a Rick Jacobson 18-hole championship course. It is a par 72 course measuring 6,979 yards with a 73.1 course rating and 134 slope rating. Amenities include a 10-acre driving range, putting green, chipping and pitching green, pro shop, and food and drink. Bull Run Golf Club opened in 1998.
Ospreys at Belmont Bay (Woodbridge) is an 18-hole regulation length course designed by Bob Mortensen measuring 5,567 yards from the back tees. This course is par 70 with a rating of 68.2 and 127 slope rating. It has a few tight fairways and there are plenty of hazards and bends to play through to make it a challenging round of golf. The course opened in 1995 with bent grass fairways and greens. Golf amenities include a 5,000 square foot clubhouse with golf shop and restaurant (limited menu) and bar, and putting green. Osprey’s at Belmont Bay has a waterfront wedding venue overlooking the Occoquan River.
Potomac Shores Golf Club (Woodbridge) is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course surrounded mostly by natural landscapes and single-family homes of Potomac Shores subdivision. Golf Digest rated Potomac Shores Golf Course ‘2014 Best New Golf Courses.’ The first 12 holes are challenging and the last 6 are open with fewer dramatic drops. The course is a par 72 measuring 7,156 yards with no amenities at the turn. The driving range and practice area are a sort distance from the clubhouse with a full-service restaurant, golf shop, dining room, day lockers, and brick patio with fire pit. Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas (Gainesville) is a beautiful 18-hole championship course designed by Tom Jackson measures between 4,889 to 7,002 yards with a 74.1 course rating and 142 slope rating. This par 72 course opened in 2001 with bent grass greens and fairways. It is challenging for casual golfers with water hazards on 10 holes. Amenities include a driving range and Brass Cannon Restaurant. Private lessons and group classes are available for adults of all skill levels.
Virginia Oaks Golf Club (Gainesville) is an 18-hole regulation course measuring 5,985 to 6,894 yards with course and slope ratings of 69.8/126 to 73.6/136. The course was designed by Pete Dye and has mixed reviews on condition and difficulty level of play. Amenities include a putting green, practice bunker, driving range, chipping area, and the Virginia Oaks Grille which has good reviews.

- Amenities at Old Hickory Golf Club include a driving range, putting green, short game area, indoor golf academy, wedding and banquet facilities, and restaurant. The Bistro at Old Hickory Golf Club has a Sunday brunch from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m.
- The Piedmont Club (Haymarket) has a beautiful 18-hole championship course opened in 2001 designed by Tom Fazio. The course measures 7,000 yards from the back tees. As a par 72 course the rating is 74.4 and the slope is 144. The tees, fairways and greens are bent grass and the rough is fescue and bluegrass. The course has wide fairways and fast greens. The practice facility is impressive with a 20 station driving range including 5 target greens and grass hitting areas, chipping and bunker practice area, practice green. The 22,000 square foot clubhouse offers a bistro and space for tournaments, weddings, and special events. The club holds men’s and ladies tournaments, sponsors youth programs and sports, and provides junior and player development lesson programs. Other amenities of the Piedmont Club are social events, fitness center, tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
