Restaurants and Shopping in Prince William County

We’ve been to the restaurants listed here and feel they meet the needs for business meetings, quick lunches, dinners to remember, and happy hours with coworkers and friends. Bristow, Gainesville, Haymarket, Manassas, and Woodbridge have too many shopping centers to list here, so we thought listing major retail centers from the Potomac River to Bull Run Mountain was a better idea. We’re not a big fan of chain restaurants but there are a few here worth visiting. Enjoy our shopping and dining recommendations in Prince William County.

 Restaurants

Bahama Breeze Island Grille (Woodbridge at Potomac Mills): A restaurant serving a taste of the Caribbean in appetizers, soups, entree salads, rice bowls, chicken, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, and fresh fish specials. Our favorites are Key West conch fritters, avocado and crabmeat salad, jumbo lump crab stack, firecracker shrimp street tacos, lobster and shrimp quesadillas, lobster and shrimp linguine, Key West shrimp and grits, mahi and shrimp with lemon grass sauce, Key West fish tacos. Bar selections feature a lot of rum (island drinks) in the signature drink offerings. There is also an extended list of mojitos and margaritas. Happy hour is from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m. and 9 p. m. to close Sunday through Thursday. Appetizers are 1/2 price during happy hour.

Caribbean cuisine with an extensive list of specialty drinks.

Bar Louie (Gainesville and Manassas): A good spot for lunch and happy hour. We’re not a big fan of chain restaurants but Bar Louie has a very good atmosphere for happy hour and late night entertainment. Specialty drinks include martinis, margaritas, and mojitos. Bar Louie has a decent list of signature cocktails and a good wine list.

Bar Louie features martinis, cocktails, margaritas, mojitos and a decent wine list.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse (Gainesville): A very good selection of seasonal beers, India Pale Ales, Lagers, Ambers, Reds, Porters, Stouts, and Ciders. The menu items are consistently good featuring sandwiches and tacos, burgers, house made soups and salads, pizza, pastas, fish and chicken entrees, steaks and ribs, and desserts.

BJ's serves specialty India pale ales, seasonal beers, lagers, ambers, reds, porters, stouts, and ciders.

Bistro L’hermitage (Occoquan): French cuisine prepared and served by the best in the restaurant business. It is regarded by many as among the best restaurants in Northern Virginia. The menu prices reflect the quality and service. The experience will likely be unmatched anywhere else in the county.

Brixx Wood Fired Pizza (Woodbridge): Different toppings, fresh ingredients, and wood fired. It’s not like any pizza. If thin crust is your thing, go to Brixx. More than 100 craft beers and India Pale Ale selections. Earn your Masters of Beer Appreciation (MBA) through Brixx (check website for details).

Firebird's has an extensive selection of sparkling wine, white wine, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, select red wines, signature cocktails, and many draft and bottled beers.

Firebirds Wood Fire Grill (Promenade Virginia Gateway Town Center and Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center): This is a lunch and happy hour venue for us. The menu includes signature salads, many soups, steak and seafood entrees; fish, chicken and pasta dishes (all excellent); and burgers and sandwiches. Everything on the menu is good. There is an extensive wine selection of champagne, whites, chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot, cabernet, sauvignon, select red wines, signature and seasonal cocktails.

Fuddruckers (Woodbridge) When you’ve got 30 minutes for lunch Fuddruckers should be on your radar. Located in Foulger Square next to Carrabba’s Italian Grill, another good lunch and dinner choice. Stack burgers and sandwiches as high as you please with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc.  We’ve never been disappointed here.

Fuddruckers Restaurant is at 14000 Foulger Square Woodbridge, Virginia 22192.

Katerina’s Greek American Cuisine: The menu and food reminds us of the best authentic Greek diners outside of New York City.

Dixie Bones BBQ (Woodbridge): The best barbecue and southern food we have experienced anywhere. It’s always crowded for good reason. If the menu items were any better, they would be illegal.

Madigan’s Waterfront (Occoquan): We go for the seafood and a great view of the Occoquan River.

Mama Mia’s Pizza (Manassas): The pizza turnover is still an overachiever decades later. A simple pizza joint with shirt and shoes requirement.

Okra’s (Old Town Manassas): There’s no such thing as a bad restaurant in Old Town Manassas. They’re all good. But Okra’s is unique. We have enjoyed alligator bites, cast iron catfish, shrimp & grits, seafood gumbo, and shrimp creole. If you’re in the Manassas Historic District and you’re in the mood for martini specials or Louisiana beers this is your place. The atmosphere is always fun.
